“A Handful of Pistachios” Exhibition by Zeina Salameh

In the heart of Aleppo’s cultural scene, artist Zeina Salameh presented her exhibition “A Handful of Pistachios” at Le Pont Gallery, showcasing a collection of works entirely based on manual printing techniques. The exhibition offered a poetic visual experience, blending natural motifs and architectural impressions through the raw elegance of black ink on earthy brown paper.

Salameh’s pieces relied on the simplicity and depth of printmaking. pistachios branches, leaf patterns, helmets, and architectural silhouettes emerged from the textured ink, forming rhythmic compositions that echoed both memory and place. The contrast between organic forms and structured prints created a dialogue between nature and civilization, past and present.

Set within the historic ambiance of Lahser Gallery, the exhibition resonated with viewers who were drawn to the tactile quality of the prints and the quiet strength of their symbolism. The handmade nature of each piece emphasized the artist’s connection to her materials and her environment, inviting reflection on heritage and identity.

Through “A Handful of Pistachios,” Salameh highlights the power of traditional techniques in contemporary storytelling. Her use of printmaking not only preserves cultural memory but also transforms humble materials into meaningful art. The exhibition stands as a testament to resilience, creativity, and the beauty found in simplicity.
